I have a fruit bearing cherry tree that I planted 7-8 years ago that has started producing a fair amount of fruit the past two years. Each summer though, come late July/ early August, it loses all of its leaves. Anyone in here have any idea what may be the cause and what to spray? I’m assuming it’s some sort of fungus.
No answer to your questions, but the ones my parents have had over the years pretty much did the same thing. IIRC, sometimes it wasn't all the leaves, but it was at least an overwhelming majority (dang near all of them)... I just chalked it up to something that those types of trees did, and never really gave it a second thought.
After fruiting in early July our cherry trees lose some leaves for sure but not all of the leaves. Do you think it is just part of the annual cycle for such an early fruiting tree?
My crab apple does the same thing, it started the process of defoliating within the last week. It is some sort of disease or fungus and I'm thinking about just having it taken down as it is old and not super healthy anyway. Looked up Google and they said cherry trees can suffer from the same thing
