Keep an eye on prices at the check stand. At a local outdoor store the other day and prices were different between the shelf and the register. A guy in front of me was buying something for 17.99 on the shelf, at the register it was 21.99. They wouldn’t budge and honor the shelf or advertised price he pulled up on his phone. I set my thing in the counter, online price was 52.99 so I specifically brought that much cash, same price on the shelf. Register price was 64.99. They wouldn’t budge even when they checked the shelf and the computer. They said the register price is the sale price.

The other guy and myself both left the items sitting on the counter and didn’t buy. I did ask the lady how many people notice this, her answer was not a surprise when she said maybe one out of a hundred. She said most people don’t pay attention, slide their card and walk away without realizing what just happened.

Keep an eye on what is happening with pricing, your money and anything else in life. It’s up to you to look out for you. If you’re willing to be taken advantage of, someone is willing to take advantage.

I've seen this at our local Target. Having someone go check the shelf price takes foreeeeeeeever. Their in-store price can also be different than the internet price. They're really pushing buy online and wait outside to get it.
In Ma the display price is the price, but you have to point it out. I got the display price at Staples once. The sale had ended but they didn't change the counter /display price.

Watch your grocery store, too. Those big red discount stickers are sometimes MORE than the regular price. Ba5tard5 !

I knew that Dollar General in particular was notorious for this, but didn't realize others were following the same business model. I'll have to pay more attention to see who else is not acting in good faith.

Growing up, the local "farm and fleet" store was bad about this, but they long gone now...Rural King took over, and they don't generally have an issue with that.
