    Long story short............................

One of my Buds is a cabinet maker/wood worker. Really, really good too!! He was needing some "old growth" Douglass Fir for a project. He got ahold of a guy and bought some wood. The guy he bought the wood from is "scrounger" for OLD TIMBERS that he can "cut skins" off of and then either sell or mill the "center" sections of this old growth wood at crazy prices. This is wood salvaged from old port buildings, old warehouses, old barns etc.

Another Bud of mine just opened a "brew pub" in the same town where my other Bud was having to go to get this old Douglass Fir. He found out that the guy that does the "old timber" business owns the building where my other Bud opened his brew pub.........................all 3 of us are Buds here.......

My cabinet maker Bud and I went down to my other Buds brew pub..............not only to pick up some wood, but to imbibe a bit!!!

Cabinet maker Bud gave me a small cut off of the Douglass Fir that he got..........................check out how tight the grain is guys. He estimated that this wood is 250-300 years old or more...........................based on when the building was built that it was in, and how old the tree would've been when cut!!!

Hope this picture turns out here........... IMG_0651.jpg

That is some amazing grain. I sourced a piece of old growth a few months ago and the rings were tight.

It smells great when cut. Very distinct odor.
