For kicks, I started looking at cheap saws on Amazon, and their system started suggesting various chainsaws. This 62cc Supmix drew my attention with an alleged 4+hp, some coupon deal and a gift card that has been in the drawer, I have another saw for about $106.

We have a place on an island in Maine. I have been wanting a bigger chainsaw to supplement the 2 42cc Jonsered saws. A saw that I won't have to take back and forth.
It arrived last week & I put it together today; easy assembly. It came with a small plastic fuel container designed easily measure the oil & gas in separate compartments then mix. 25:1

It took 15 pulls but it started and seems to run strong for the three test cuts I did. It is noticeably smoky.

I'm planning on breaking it in with a few tanks of 25:1 fuel. I'd like to run less oil. 50:1 would be nice. Having read some posts on FHC about gas oil mixes will 40:1 work safely? Many seem to think so/ do so. Any input on these super cheap quick fixes for CAD would be most appreciated!

If using a quality oil, yes.
I run 32:1 to 40:1 in every 2 cycle I've ever owned, no matter what OEM calls for, no issues at all.

I run paps old ‘59 Pioneer, which calls for 16/1, at 40/1 with absolutely no issues.

Agree with above...get any of the big 3's mix oil and you should be fine at 40 or 50 to 1. I'm a 40 guy these days unless I'm feeling wealthy and run some of the canned stuff at 50:1.

Oil technology has grown leaps and bounds over the years.
Me personally I run 40:1 in everything and never had any issues at all.
I couldn't tell you the last time I had to change a spark plug or clean a spark arrestor screen, zero on scored cylinders from lack of oil.

Ive run 40:1 in my saws for years without issue. I use the same mix in my Echo handheld leaf blower.

Years back the OPE dealer i was doing business with recommended a richer mix to generate some smoke when running. Dont know if thats a good idea today, but id rather have more lube than not enough.

Only use Stihl bar oil! Bought a gallon of bar oil from a big box store ONCE destroyed a new bar before the gallon was used!

It is such a small amount of oil between the 40:1 and 50:1 that your saw has no clue there is any difference.
I have switched over to Echo Red Armor for mix. I ran out of Mobil 1 2T and switched to Echo.
    Cheaper and readily available.

Well maybe a Ford - Chevy thread.
If you really want it to turn into a trainwreck throw in some Chrysler into the mix. LOL

It's real nice seeing that conrod and bearing just smothered in oil when you pull one apart. A little more oil gives a *slight bump in compression as well.
