My wife and I have been kicking around getting a gas grill since our last one rotted out a few years ago. The Solo (charcoal) Grill has filled void since then. However, we wanted something that would be good for a post Sous Vide sear on a weeknight. My wife has a subscription to America’s Test Kitchen, so I started doing some research.

We ended up ordering a Charbroil GrillGoX200 and an adapter to hook it up to a 20lb tank vs the smaller green bottles.

Bottom line, this little thing rips! It’s absolutely perfect for searing after Sous Viding meat. We’ve tried it out with chicken, burgers and shrimp, all came out excellent. It looks much like a standard gas grill, but the actual grates are stainless and have very small openings vs a standard style grate. I guess this is what makes it infrared vs traditional. In reading their material, this is supposed to have less of a drying effect on the meat compared to a regular grill. While we haven’t done a ton of testing, the first few cooks support that hypothesis. I’ll be sure to keep this thread updated as we cook more on it!

Thanks! It’s a fun grill! It gets really hot on high. Dialing it down to low/ medium low is best for actually cooking stuff vs. letting it rip on high for a good char post sous vide.
