My Tractor Supply has the Poulan Wild Thing 40cc saw for 79 bucks! Though it is out of stock. I may grab one just for a back up saw if I can raincheck it. I own an older saw that has done me right for a decade worth of use. Dead now though.

You have a 576 and a 346 and you wanna Wild Thing? *cough*

I would pass on that myself. I had one and sold it unused for $100 on CL a few years ago:

For 79 you can not loose. Might make a good saw to leave in the truck.

And if someone steals it,its not like you're out a ton of cash either.Nice to have for emergencies if there's a big log fallen blocking the road or another problem.

Those chains look awfully aggressive and dangerous!

Got one of those toy Husky's for Jackson,my 4 year old great-nephew in Christmas 2011.I figure it'll be a few more years until he can really help me in the woods.Though I could always use an apprentice to help me out on the busier days.....:axe:

foe $79 thats a good price. are they like northern and sell factory reconditione stuff? the price is usually closer to like $120 right. i have seen plenty of folks who are succeasfull with them. i have used my faterin laws wildthing. it sometimes is hard starting bit decent for what it is. keep a chisel chain sharp to maximize your power and cutting. if i needed a teuxk saw to lay on a toolbox or bounce arwond the back i would get one in a heartbeat. probly muff mod it an retune as well.

The colors though..........my eyes, my eyes!
I may get one just for giggles. Sis-in-law bought a Homeylite 35cc a couple years ago that I've used.
Not too bad for what it is.....after she put a decent chain on it, and I pulled the goofy little safety bar off the bar tip.:D

I picked up a Poulan Wookshark 1950 with a 14" bar about 10 years back at Menards for $70 or so during a New Years 'cram it in a bin for 20% off" sale. It's a good limbing saw. For the price I can't complain. It's light and its had nothing but gas, oil and chains.

I'm not sure what the marketing folks were thinking when they came up with the wild thing color scheme.

Those little 1950's respond very well to a Muff Mod. I got one for free when I bought an 026. I MM'd it and sold it for $40. It ran good though.

For $79, I'd by a Wild Thingy, just to strap to my ATV to clean trails and Whot Not..

Here's my fav new trail clearer.....that $43 CL score from mid July.Kept that original 16" bar on there,it just flies through small-medium stuff with full comp chain.Dropped a 14" Shagbark snag this morning.Spent the next hour or so afterwards gathering hickory nuts almost half were within 40 ft of that old snag. Seems to be another bumper crop this year, biggest since 2008.

I am going against most of the grain here ! My 46 Poulan Pro did most of our firewood and a friends for 4 years. It got used to death and I mean USED away more than it was ever intended for. They are not bad saws for homeowner use as a matter of fact my buddy now uses it for his firepit wood supply and fireplace wood supply. The cheap saws are cheap yes but they can do a good job just not as fast.
