    Great idea.

    It would feel like an eternity trying to get those wing nuts off......at least for me. I can't stand over-length threads.

    Drill a small hole in the threaded end of the bolt.
    Install washer , followed by a compression spring then use a small hair-pin style clip to hold it all together.

    Its nicer when there are more chains on there.
    I did however, cut one down a bit....i don't unscrew both, just one, andnthat itls the one I shortened a little.
    If I had a way to make the nuts bigger, or go with heavier lag screws, they would be easier to manipulate with gloves on.
