Cedar score

Hey guys I am doing some side work and the person wants a cedar tree cut up that blew over. I know I will get lots of "burn it" statements, but I was wondering what you all do with cedar. I was thinking make some chips for cooking, turn some into kindling and I guess split the rest. Heard it burns really hot and fast.

I will take pics when I stop being lazy and stop drinking my coffee in bed!

 

I would make planks for cooking fish.

 

Now im questioning my wood id skills. Started cutting and it certainly doesnt smell like cedar nor does it have the purple heartwood.

So any thoughts?

 

Some steep terrain you got down there… good thing you had a ladder…

 

Wouldn't use any resinous wood for cooking
Maybe white cedar
Kindling is a good use for it.

 

Kindling and/or small splits for helping get things roaring I'd say

None for cooking though.

 

looks like cedar. Looks like you enjoy your coffee too, the cup has traveled with you to the job
