There are very few trees in my area that actually get worms anymore. 30 years ago, we had lots. Dad used to send me out with a cane pole to knock them out and gather them for catfish bait. I read on the web pesticides have wiped them from many areas. Y'all still get them?

I've split up some rounds with some real nice hearty white grubs in them. That we're excellent trout catchers.

My grandparents had a ~30" DBH catalpa in their yard. Every year the worms would eat almost every leaf. The whole little town had many other trees just like it.

50 years ago my Dad had some Bait Shops that would buy them from him. Cane pole with a sheet on the ground.
Speaking of sheet on the ground we would go out and get a couple of thousand cow pattie grubs a week when we could.
Now days we sell 500k wax worms on a good week.

I have one catalpa tree. 14" DBH. It only gets a few worms each year.
