Charlie always smells like roadkill, unless its been less than a day since he's had a bath-- he hates baths! Just rubbed him down with washing soda and it really helped-- is it ok to leave it on him or does he need a bath shortly? If he does, I will probably add some vinegar first!
I don't know what washing soda is ? I'd be careful with either, cats have sensitive skin under the fur (oily cat food.....) and I would be concerned about the ph, wouldn't want to make him itch, chaff, or irritate his skin.
I cant help you with your question, but imagining a cat getting rubbed down with washing soda made me laugh
Does he eat commercial cat food? If so maybe a different brand will help his saliva smell less, it has alot to do with the odor of cats since they lick alot.
This one doesnt clean himself, thats the issue. Washing soda is same as baking soda, but not food grade.
If it were me I might take a wait and see approach. Sorry I don't know more. Lol wonder if he will foam at his mouth if decides to lick
This reminds me of the news cast a few years back. Man mauled by Rottweiler. ..while trying to brush the dog's teeth. I have had a rottie and know they are a kind dog. This was just a case of culling an intellectual darwin from the stupid herd.
Actually Bear enjoys having his teeth brushed. Even has his own electric tooth brush and chicken flavored toothpaste. Now nail trimming is a WHOLE different world. Rotti's hate having the feet handled. Took about 4 or 5 years in getting him to tolerate the sanding drum on a dremel tool. He doesn't like it, but he does tolerate it. It's quite a vocal show when it happens. He's also adept in curling his lips and displaying his "cat crushers" although he never ever things about excercising them.
Somehow I have always had luck trimming nails on our dogs and cats (several over the years), but have failed at toothbrushing. Interesting.
