Last year my 2006 castile's combustion blower went and I purchased this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/161189602723?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 I could not get the original 11 blade impeller off the original. The 9 blade that came with it didnt provide suficient vac despite the seller saying he has never had a prob, and the newer castile motors coming with the 9 blades (I cant find any vac leaks and vever had a prob w the old motor). any way he sent me a 11 blade impeller like this It worked and fed pellets but the flame still seemed lazy and big. So I found the Identical impeller as the original which is sold as a Kozy now the flame looks good. more whistling than I remember and the door seems to rattle occasionally. anyone else ever have these experiences,
I seen you joined awhile agi, but this is your 1st post in the forums. So welcome to FHC! ! The impeller with the large fins does give a little better output. And actually, Magnum (AES) actually sold this as an upgrade for their stoves. I tried both in my Quad Classic Bay 1200 before I sold it and really never noticed a difference. But I only tried it for a day or so. Have you checked your door gasket (dollar bill test)? And also, make sure the floor of the burn pot (sliding door) doesn't hang down more than the thickness of a dime. If the gap is bigger than a dime, you lose air through the pot holes. Air still comes through the gap, but it's more efficient through the holes it was designed to flow through. Again, welcome to FHC!
Have seen this on the web before.99% people have no problems, but I have no experience with this problem.I reccoment you call and talk to sean at mountain view hearth ,I feel he will know.
To me it looks like the 11 blade is setup for counter clockwise direction (looking at the shaft end) than the one that came with the motor. Just something that jumps out at me.
anything that I can stick on to stop the vib of the outer decorative door against the inner thats heat resistant?
Hello Having a higher current motor usually comes with the larger impeller blades to handle the additional torque needed. The Magnum closed frame blower Dexter is referring to is 1.6 amps. It is a great upgrade for Magnum stoves, especially the Magnum Baby Countryside model. I like the quieter Gleason-Avery open frame 1.75 amp exhaust blower motor that Harman recommends as an upgrade on their stoves. These higher current blowers work better in low draft when using lower heat levels and also give longer life because of smoother starts.
Maybe try these for your door rattle http://www.organizeit.com/self-adhesive-felt-furniture-pads.asp Or you could try a little dab of high temp silicone at the contact points, but not so much that it pushes the door out and makes it look funky.
Here is the exhaust blower I use in my Quad Contour/Santa Fe with the large blades. 1.75 amps - More power for better Low Drafting! You got the 11 petal small blades, but the 11 petal large blades works even better! Howeve if you use either the 9 or 11 petal large blades a higher current blower is a must! Those 11 petal small blade motors usually have a lower current rating. What does it say for amps on your motor tag? I am using the large 11 blade Kozi fan blade pictured. The Amps I believe is 1.0. With the 9 blade I couldn't get enoupg draft to consistently drop pellets.
For future ref where did you get the GA motor. dont see it on their site http://www.gleasonavery.com/catalog/pellet-corn-stove-motors.html
It is simply the latest batch of motors from harman(lo bid?) anybody that sells harman parts has them, like mountain view. The universal mounting plate can be had at earth sense energy products.Don't think GA has a web site for a lot of their products, not worth it,a lot of these small items are used for other purposes, bath and wall fans, etc.
i got the gleason avery "low drafter" kit for my heatilator PS50. i'm absolutely lovin' it. i opened the feed gate all the way since the motor can now handle that. getting the same temps on medium i used to get on high. so i should be able to get through a hard winter like last year's pretty much on medium. pellet usage should remain the same since i'll be running on medium auger rate instead of high when it's really cold. it's nice to have the extra capacity, and low is so much more useful now.
Those fans are certainly different and designed to work in a different direction. Reverse them and they are not gonna gitterdone.
