Like a new one does. I can get them sharp but I just can't them to where they self feed. If I dog in I can get clean cuts with little pressure. I've tried granberg, husky jig, stihl file guide, oregon file guide, and my timber tuff bench mount grinder. I go at 30° and have set the takers a tad lower than normal but no go. Someone help.... Using 7/32 and tried whatever stihl has that's close to 7/32.

Might be not enough hook on the cutter. File is riding too high.

This was probably the worst chain to show you all. I'll get better pics of a chain I think should be good to go tomorrow and go from there...

Yes. Edge isn't quite sharp. One or two more strokes will fix that. The corner point was blunt also.

And maybe the file is a tad low? Looks like a nice clean gullet, but the top plate should feel sharp like a knife.

The hook looks like it could be a bit more aggressive to me, more of an angle. But I also agree top looks dull.

How did you measure the rakers? I have on gauge that is no where near the other when I check rakers. The new one is much bb
Better and allows the chains to bite more.

You can use the flat edge and feeler gauge thing but when checking every raker when lowering them its a two step process with a feeler and flat bar. Where as the gauge thing I got now I just throw it up there look and a few strokes of the file and a recheck and then move on.

I agree with the above. Ride the file higher, or a couple added strokes would have touched the top plate.

6-7° is good for raker height also. set the chain up on a holder or bar and get a level section and check all of them there.

Maybe thats the same one I use? The one I use is countyline brand that I got at TSC. It sets over the chain and the raker protrudes through a slot. And came with a small flat file.

Yes. I ditched the small flat for my old mower blade file. MUCH faster!
