Got a couple loads out before the storm. Sitting by the stove now wondering how much snow or slop we'll actually get haha.
We took down a 65' pin oak this morning. Literally just got finished cleaning up and loading up the firewood from it when it started to snow!
Nice! Good morning to be out for sure. No wind and reasonable temps. Fine snow just started here about an hour ago. Hopefully we stay cold enough for an all snow event
Nice job on getting the premium wood out before its lost until spring! Well, it started raining here in Northern Kentucky about 0300 this morning and, with the exception of about a 1 hour break, it's still coming down strong. The prognosticators say snow, to the tune of about 6", will fall starting around 1700. We shall see.... By the way, welcome to the land of the woodenheads! You gonna love it here!
This is from the mid part of one of the trees I cut today. The base was about 20". I thought it was red oak by the bark initially because that's 75% of what's around here but I know it's not. Smells and looks different. Not the best at identifying trees. The lady wanted some cookies for decoration purposes for her baby shower. Got a little girl on the way
Welcome DaveD84 .. Not seeing the radial on that wood to make it oak.. Congrats on Lil girl.. Enjoy her they grow fast..
It looked like a millable tree but ya never know from a picture. Do you mill it yourself or take it to a mill?
Congratulations on the new arrival. Yep they sure grow up fast. The tree looks like oak that the heart has died, it will have a funky smell sometimes when it does that. And welcome to the group.
Welcome DaveD84 and congratulations on the new wood hoarder on the way! This is a great place for the whole family to hang out.
