The plastic fuel tank on my bx 2660 has been in contact with some metal part on the mounting and now has a hole in rubbed in it. Anyone have a clue about how to remove the fuel tank? I'm sure all the body parts including the floorboards and fenders have to come off, but I've so far been able to find a takedown diagram or video on how to do it, so I've come to the experts at FHC for help. HELP!!
It may, but it still has to come out. Probably some of the mounting hardware is loose or broken causing the tank to drop and rub. I haven't priced a tank yet, that bad news comes Monday.
My thanks to member Bret Hart for getting me an electronic copy of the BX 2660 shop manual. It's going to make my life a good bit easier and save me about $300 in labor on this repair alone Brets actions once again prove what great folks are in the FHC family. You can always count on someone you've never met to help, no questions ask, when help is needed. Thanks again Bret!
The new fuel tank is in and the BX runs fine. Apparently one of the rubber grommets that holds the fuel tank securely in place fell out. The new tank is rock solid. I added extra protection by installing pieces of bicycle tire to cover anything that looked like is could contact the tank should it come loose again in the future. The job was made a lot easier because of the Kubota Shop Manual FHC member Bret Hart sent me. Not having to guess what steps to take and what order to take them sure made it easy. Thanks Bret! Just another reason I love this place!
