www.plumbersstock.com I was shopping some parts for my VC2550 and the prices here seem to be 1/3 -1/2 the price of the cheapest sites I can find. Most of there prices are "cart" only to view them but I can see why. Only down fall is they do charge shipping but man I just picked up a refractory for $128.25 and the best price I can find anywhere else is eBay for $212 so I dont mind paying $20 or so in shipping (bought alot of other stuff too). They are a VC dealer and they buy in bulk so maybe they pass along the savings?
Yeah Reckless I got your PM on the other side but Ill just chime in here. I would be interested to hear how this works out. Ive seen that before with different things- some item you want there are maybe a dozen vendors all chargning with +/- 10% price wise, and then one outfit like this that's selling at half price. I always wonder what the catch is - are they selling factory seconds?, or charging exorbitant shipping? Did the parts fall off the back of a truck? I find it hard to believe other vendors are making 50% margins on the parts ya know... Let us know how this works out....
I called and got someone on the phone right away so thats a +. I spoke to her about lead times and they order all the parts from VC direct just like every other site. I can only assume is their profit margin is either smaller or they order so much they get everything for much cheaper. As for shipping let me say this I ordered all listed below and was only charged $20 for shipping...... I'd say thats a DEAL!! 1VERMONT CASTINGS 0001580 FLUE COLLAR - CLASSIC BLACK 1VERMONT CASTINGS 1308620 BACK ENCORE 91 1VERMONT CASTINGS 1308625 THROAT HOOD FOR ENCORE CAT 1VERMONT CASTINGS 1602510 REFRACTORY ASSY WW FIREBOX
Called in to confirm and everything is on order from VC direct. She told me late sept which is cutting it super close. Now do I get the stove in the basement and start the break down or do I wait.........
That is a long wait! I might be calling after about 10 days and keep on calling. Should not have to wait that long on shipping a product.
Unfortunately it is up to VC to actually cast the item and ship it, I guess this is how they operate for most their parts.
Maybe you missed this.. Vermont Castings does not stock the parts I am requesting, they actually need to make them per order thus the long wait. It is the same for every website I looked to order from.
Knowing VCs history I'd wait till you actually have parts in hand. Just in case the backorder gets extended you wont have a stove in pieces come heating season...
