This weekend! October 3-5. I will probably be there for a few hours on Friday as per usual. If you are within reasonable distance you should check it out. All kinds of neat stuff to see (and buy if you want). Lots of good 'fair food' available. Check out the offerings in the buildings for unique Christmas gifts. https://www.thepaulbunyanshow.com/
Yep. I know some do travel and stay over but I wouldn't want to tell anyone to do that for it. A whole day there is enough to take it all in fully excepting the various lumberjack competition and other contests that stretch over the course of the weekend. The draft horses are always neat to watch work. I miss the Skidder 'races' that they used to have. The people and general atmosphere is what keeps me going back every year. Our 'kind' of people are found there in droves.
It's a shame as I'll be going to a GTG the following week not far from there. Maybe you could make it there?
I'm going to be running stupid from here on through December now. I actually take Friday off work to attend Bunyan so I don't use my weekend time. Time change inbound stealing my after work time. I have tried to make the Central Ohio community wood making meets work in the past as I really like the idea of donating some labor to the needy. Introversion and multitude of things needing puttered on and done have thusfar prevented. I'm missing out more than you all are not being there, by my own measure.
Was looking throug list of exhibitors and this one caught my eye. Gorillabac lifting system. A long time personal favorite. Have bought several as gifts. https://www.possumproductsllc.com/products-1
It is a shame you can't get to Walt's. We have a good time and also make some firewood. Unfortunately I can no longer do much work but do whatever I can.
I've followed some previous meets. Kudos to all of you helping out any way you can. Good people. Good cause.
I made some perch a couple weekends ago. Maybe the stuff they have will be a little better than mine turned out?
Refreshing to see something new. I'm the kind who will resize the rounds with a maul or rip cut to avoid the need. I like that people are still trying to innovate.
I think walt is going...my brother is going on Saturday, he called to see if I wanted to go, but I was planning on finishing up installing the new wood furnace at my sister's place...this time of the year is always so busy...
I was talking to a vendor about that lift at The Firewood Expo and I think it's too expensive. Looked cool though. If I needed a lift to get the log to my splitter the splitter would topple over
I really should go on a Sunday sometime and see what all the made wood sells for. I bet it's a pretty good deal as it is basically 'refuse' that the exhibitors have to deal with. Auctions start at 2pm I think.
I've never been to the Bunyan Show. I should make a plan one of these years. Looks like it's about 5 hours away or so from me. Like brenndatomu said, this time of year is always busy. Hard to get away.
We are going this year, we will be with walt Friday morning, we may go back by ourselves on Saturday. It would be great to with you. I'll try to wear a FHC shift.
I'm afraid I'll have to miss this year, couldn't get the time off from work and that's a shame because to wife said she would go with me!! My son's and I went last year and really enjoyed it! My oldest really likes to see all the old stuff we grew up with. He's fixed up a few old McColloch's and Homelites and would rather run them than his 572 Husky. And I'd like to get a FHC shirt. How do I or can I get one?
