My wife wanted to buy some bunk beds for the girls. We're remodeling the house and they both need to be in one room while we do the work. She was going to buy an ikea set, I wasn't a fan so decided to build them.

I had a stack of salvaged barn wood in my barn and used that for the bed. It's all old rough sawn walnut and I think it turned out pretty awesome. The room it's in is almost done, needs crown molding and carpet yet but those will wait for now.

This thing is big and heavy! I screwed it all together so I could take it apart when we move. All the boards are minimum 1.5" thick and a few are over 2" thick. Really cool lumber but a b**** to work with.

    Nice job Sean.
Will you put some ledger pieces inside the rails for the box spring to sit on, or just slats across the rails?

The bottom is just going to be the box spring on the floor, and the top I put slats across. Ill put up another picture once we get the beds and sheets in there.

Nice work. You can't beat re-purposing, it can keep cash in your pocket.
