A few years back I built 2 long tail mud motors from scratch. This week, I decided that its high time that I built some kind of a hot saw. I put out the word, and a buddy offered up a 2 stroke YZ80 (dirt bike) motor hes been meaning to fix up....something wrong in the transmission. I checked ebay and there seems to be plenty of parts available for them. The engine is rated at 14 and change bhp, so it should be enough to get me in the game.

Ive never built anything quite like this (never built a mud motor before either...lol) so any advice would be appreciated. Id like to put at least a 24" bar on it. Whats the best place for a Canadian boy to mail order / source longer bars and chains ? Make doesnt matter, as Ill just machine whatever adaptation I need to make it work. Im not doing this for competition. I just want a nice powerful saw with a long bar or cutting slab lumber. For day to day wood cutting, Ill still use my Husky 445e.

Yes..table tops and shelves with a live edge. As for the engine, its an older air cooled one.
