The wind today was crazy! I came home to this just laying in the road right in front of my driveway and I couldn’t just leave it there so I went and talked to my neighbor to let him know I’d like to cut it out and he said I could cut all the wood out of there I wanted. He then asked if I would cut up a fallen hedge behind his house and gave me about half a rick of cut well seasoned hedge saying he doesn’t burn in his fireplace anymore. As I was cutting another neighbor stoped and told me if I wanted it I could cut all the hedge and elm off the dam I wanted. It was a good day!
Yeah most people around here are wood snobs and will only burn hedge. I prefer it but I will burn whatever is free
Nice score. Great to get your name out there. Is hedge the trees along road or property? New term for me on the forum.
Hedge shelterbelts grow along most the dirt roads out here and divides a lot of the fields and property lines.
it reminds me of the term from WW2 my dad used to descibe parts of France he was in called "hedgerow" country. Difficult area for the allies to fight through after the Normandy invasion. Im also amazed of the land out your way....how open and flat. Never traveled there. Being from a small state thats heavily residential with lots of wooded area.
Check out Osage Orange (Hedge) on this list. It has the most btu per cord of any wood Firewood BTU & Drying Chart
WOW!!! i guess he hit a goldmine with that, or is the correct term "honey hole"? Thanks for the education.
We’ve had a brutal wind all night & still going. I’ll have to take a cruise around town on my way to work & see if there’s anything that needs picked up
