I had 2 80' Oaks that were threatening my shed and probably my truck. A man has to know his limits so I called a buddy of mine to take them out without prejudice ;)

Nice bit of oak there

Did he get in the tree once lifted up, and then use the crane to lower the pieces?

Yea, nice easy area to buck and split. I had been worried about the angle they were growing and then recently saw the rotting bases so it was time.

That's how they did it. They took out 10' sections, swung them over to the chipper then cut and chipped all of the small stuff. At the end of the job, he used to crane to put the sticks in two piles. I only posted a pic of one of the piles when they took a break. They were in and out of here in less than 2.5 hours.

Talk about using a " mechanical advantage "
The crane makes short work of 2 huge trees look easy :)

You did the right thing.....I've never had the pleasure of a crane ride to the top of a tree, I have to climb up manually....:(

I've been in many situations where a crane would've made it a lot easier, just did 4 Elms at one job this past weekend that were intertwined in wires and hanging out over a house and shed. But with patience we got them down, piece by piece....

Lots of good premium BTUs there, Fred.....you'll be able to split that stuff pretty easy. Nice job and great pics buddy!!

My black dog would've been "marking/peeing on" darn near every one of those logs in the picture!!

Nice work!! Nice wood! And a nice friend to boot!

    Great pics! :D

Scotty, you're a nut! ! That looked like a crazy job! Just the power lines would be enough to raise the "pucker" factor! Good on you for doing it, and getting it done safely. . But you're still crazy! LOL..

Great job. Smart move knowing what you're comfortable with & what you're not.Sure not worth risking life and/or property just to save a few bucks & sooth your ego...

Like Dirty Harry said many years ago " A man's got to know his limitations......;) "

It is amazing how fast they can dismantle a tree and leave almost no mess feeding it directly into their chipper.
