Not really big on paying for wood but the free stuff has been slow this year and I really wanted to finish up the 17/18 stacks before I need to replenish what I burn this winter. Bought 2 loads of white ash rounds for 150$ from a guy that's not far from me at all. Kicked off load one and went back for a second. With the way I had the trailer loaded my guess is it will split to a little over 2 stacked cords which is what I needed.. Load one tossed off. Load 2.
Hope you're right about that being 2 cords, but it looks a bit shy of 2 to me. Is that a 5x12' trailer? Was the truck bed loaded too? Don't take this the wrong way, but I'd love to get my hands on some Ash.
7x14.5 inside the boards. A normal load of rounds on that trailer usually splits to a hair over a cord. These are all nice and straight too.
Trailer looks a little smaller in the pic. My eyes deceive me. That's less than log load pricing around here. I may end up partially buying my way back into the gang too. Hate to do it, but hey, whatever.
LOL! I'd want a beer after 2/3 of a load using hydraulics. With the Fiskars you deserve a few!! Cheers to a job well done!
Nice and it's ash... Can't beat that and a very smart move. Great thing is once your ahead, you only have to replace what you used.
That's what I was thinking. In another month I'll be moving wood from the stacks up to the house so I want the wood I get from here to replenish that instead of going to the 17/18 stack. I'm on beer 4 or 5 now..lol..
Three things about this: 1. Darn good price. Ash is good stuff. 2. That trailer is excellent - for a given load, you know the cordage. 3. Buying wood is a legimitate method to get to a 3-year stash. Even better, ya already split a bunch! Good job!
