I have a 6ton bottle jack that quit working today. The release valve is closed and nothing seems to be broken or missing. It will not work. What could be the problem and would something like that we worth fixing?

    Does it leak?

I don't wee it leaking. Where would you add oil to it?

I new one runs about $30-35 on Amazon or Wally World.
It probably has a bad seal or is low on fluid. Check the fluid level first. If it's not low, I'd just buy a new one. They are easy to rebuild but locating the correct parts could take more time than it's worth.

It should have a removable plug somewhere low on the barrel or base.

Thanks guys. I will look at the jack tomorrow. I do have some hydraulic oil that I use in my splitter. That should work.

It turned out to be a bit of air in the system. All I had to do was open the release valve and pump it 20 or so times, close the valve and it worked again.
