I bought the panel meters from ebay -- about $5 a piece. They come with temp probes that have about a 10' lead. For longer runs I was able to cut them and solder on some CAT 5 cable. I have runs that are about 50' and they read accurately. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-LED...893?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35bffd3805 My biggest problem was finding the right box that could fit all the meters that wasn't too big that I would bump into it. I settled on a structured media panel. I cut out the slots with a dremel tool, took a while since the box is metal. The box has a cut out for an outlet in the bottom right so the bottom row can only have two meters. I painted it grey with primer so it has the right 'industrial' look. http://www.amazon.com/Enclosure-wit...F8&qid=1355081497&sr=8-3&keywords=media panel For power I used an old wall wart. Just make sure it outputs do voltage for the meters you have. I found some in my junk drawer that output 24 vac (from an old cordless phone) http://www.amazon.com/AC-DC-ADAPTER...d=1355082274&sr=1-3&keywords=Wall wart 12 vdc
They only go up to 250 or so. For flue temps look for a type k thermocouple; good to 1250 or so http://www.ebay.com/itm/TM-902C-K-T...245?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43bdaad4c5 I have a couple 500 gallon propane tanks -- the second and third row on the panel shows the temps of the tanks top, middle and bottom.
Some time when I have enough cash, which will probably be never after next week, I should pay you to make me one of those panels for my boiler. Since, you know, you make them in the best color and all. (wood gun grey)
