    Good morning all,

As heating season is setting in I am quickly remembering how horribly loud the blower is on our NC-13 wood stove. Does anyone have any recommendations for a simple bolt on replacement that is considerably more quiet? The factory blower is an AC-16.

Otherwise we absolutely love our stove, it does an excellent job at keeping our 1,500 ft ranch house nice and toasty. This is our second year using it. We have stopped using the blower as it’s simply way too loud, which sucks because it really does make a big difference at distributing the heat throughout the house.

I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

    Best Regards,
    Andy

What about a happy medium...use it, just turn it down some...that usually makes them much quieter

Unfortunately that model of blower only has a Hi and low setting, and even on low it’s very loud

I wonder if the upgrade blower for the NC 30 could be retrofitted? It's speed adjustable...

I understand… that hair dryer blower is noisy… Ran it for many years before upgrading to the bigger blower. It’s got a dial knob so you can set it for what cfm you want.

I’ll look tonight and see if it’ll fit. I believe it does, but not 100% sure

I can take a picture of the back of my stove and the blower if that would help compare!

My NC13 in the garage has four bolt holes that look dimensionally the same. But It'll be the weekend before I could measure them.

My suggestion for your issue is the reverse- ditch the blower all together and grab one of those desk top fans and blow the cool air from across the room towards the stove.

We have a "vornado" or something like that- bought it at Costco 2 years ago and put it at the top the the stairs blowing air down into the main level with the stove- does way better than trying to blow the warm air upstairs.

(Give it a shot before you sink any money into replacing the blower- which you could always do if this advice doesn't work for you.)

Looks like this fasco blower will work, Blower for NC30, upgrade options. I have the same stove and the hair dryer drives me nuts :hair:, might try to upgrade it this winter.

Doesnt the NC30 have a plate on the back that has to be removed to install the larger blower? My NC 13 does not have a removable plate on the back, only the 4 holes around a central air inlet.

I do use this trick on our back bedroom to blow the cold air "out" of the room and it certainly does work well. Just looking for any way to make the stove as efficient as possible.

No, it hooked right up I don’t recall doing anything different. I believe I undid the hair blower and installed the upgraded one. It just uses a different set of bolt hole.

It can probably be made to work though...heck I put a blower on my old VZ stove that wasn't even the same brand! Just had to drill some holes n stuff...pretty easy.

Yup! There's a reason just why you have the avatar you do! :handshake:

Instead of talking about it and putting it off year after year, you get things done! :rofl:

Just got done cleaning the dust bunnies out of the blower. Here’s the pictures of the blower, NC30 back and the NC13 back. I guess I forgot that the blower sets inside the back panel on the NC30. Which is totally different then the NC13. The 13 does have 4 holes on the outer perimeter which is maybe how the hook up the other blower? Must be a single hole?

Given the size of the port on the NC13- perhaps consider a "muffin fan" - smaller / lighter and more ability to control the speed. Might need to fiddle with the mounting.

Here is the back of my stove, the only opening and mounts are the small central one. The bolt spacing is 2-1/4” apart. The back of your nc30 definitely looks different than mine :/ E46FF040-EC93-4B52-A84A-18AD9BB22D2D.jpeg D908BC0F-3950-4E51-B15C-AA5FE048CD77.jpeg
