    Much better!

It's a good firewood, pretty much all that bogydave burns.

I've heard it called white birch and paper birch. Keep it as dry as you can-off ground, etc. as it can turn punky faster than a lot of other woods.

without the peeling bark I'd call it grey birch.

They wither, rot and die here especially as a pioneer species once the pines and oaks start towering above them. I lost out on a bunch of them that I should have harvested while they were still solid.
They're decent firewood cut alive, split and/or stacked out of the rain. Once they have fungi growing on them I leave them for the woodpeckers.

Seeing a bit of spalting in that top split I would keep it out of the rain the best I could. It still looks pretty solid.

The large split pieces look like silver Birch, the bottom of the trees start to turn that dark scaly rough look

looks like white birch to me.. the bottom of tree.. white birch is a great shoulder season firewood!

TIP.. you must split every piece at least once or it will rot in 6 to 8 months.. the bark is water tight.. most smaller brushy branches.. here go to bonfire as they rot before they dry

Got plenty of this stuff for this year. Ive tested burning some, its really great smelling stuff!! Women love it!!!!
Starting with my doug fir, then horse chestnut, cherry and a little bit of apple, then birch, maple and some madrone and black locust for those deep chill. It dried fast for me but I had supply from last summer and that is well in range. 2 summers will likely be a golden number

Yeah, looks like white, or paper birch to me. 22 mbtu's a cord, better than just a shoulder season wood. On par with ash for BTUs.

It's, split each round at least once, it's great wood.

I like white birch. It dries relatively quick and it's perfect to burn late fall early winter when it's not subzero out.
