I just went to home depot and got 2 packs of bio bricks not sure if that was a sale price. I just wanted to see how they work. 4 block pack 3.98 not sure if anyone uses them but it seemed like a good deal.
Good stuff! This just reminded me I have about 9 in the garage on a shelf somewhere I need to dig out.
Our local TSC has a 3 pack for $3.99. I've never burned them. I've always been curious about the Northern Idaho Energy Logs too.... Wood Fuel Home - North Idaho Energy Logs - Burn Clean - Burn Friendly Maybe someday I'll try them to kill my curiosity.
I get the Lewis/Fiber Fuel ones for extended burns. They are more dense than wood logs so you can squeeze more BTU’s worth of fuel into the stove, and assuming you have a stove you can adequately control, the burn time will be longer for the same heat output. 72 pounds (3 12 packs) of bricks will burn 24-30 hours in my IS keeping my good sized but poorly insulated home in the mid 70’s. BTW, they are a LOT cheaper to buy by the pallet here. Ask about volume discounts.
We used them one winter and found they work pretty good! Mixed with wood they lasted for a long time in our stove. Enjoy the BTUs!
Hahahahaha, not a chance. No i tell customers i would rather see them burn bio bricks than buy wet wood from someone. Iv said that to a couple if people but iv never burned them. However after burning them these things are awesome, i would use these in a second instead of unseasoned wet wood.
I wanted to burn like i had no wood so i went out and got dry sticks in the yard and these things impressed me. They burned nice and lots of heat.
If they are compressed enough, they are a good alternative to firewood. I've tried different brands, and the crumble factor varies. I got some once that just broke apart into sawdust in the stove, those didn't burn very well
For what it's worth- we all know "all things being equal, things aren't equal"... compressed wood particles appear to be a cut above in quality than compressed saw dust. The sawdust bricks puff up and disintegrate where as the wood particle bricks put out some significant heat. But again, I think the biggest benefit is the moisture content being so low, it can mitigate substandard cord wood. Sorry to chime in on this one- but I feel like this is my life every winter lol.
