Just checked out the weather forecast for our area. The temperature is supposed to drop 25 degrees in the next 8 hours!!! I only checked because I know the fire is about out and the house is still 72 degrees and its 52 and raining and humid out. Just figured I'd let it burn out and have the oil kick on if needed. I'm actually sitting here about half sweating and thinking I should build a fire
Supposed to do something similar here, TD. Started a fire with OAT @ 50F earlier this eve in anticipation. Still sweating, going to bed and thankful for the fan in the BR.
We had a high of about 65 degrees yesterday with plenty of sunshine. Last night the temperature took a bit of a dip with heavy rain. Today's high is supposed to be 36 degrees so it has to fall a bit from it's current 42 degrees as of 4am. The icing on the cake is the expected 20 to 30mph winds gusting up to 50mph. Then tomorrow it is supposed to snow 3" to 5". If the weather service (Weather Underground) is true to form, we could get anywhere from a few inches of rain to a foot of snow.
Ohio, if it ever gets to 27 in St Croix we are all in big trouble. Then again my pellet / firewood business there might take off.........:stacke: so far not making any money
It appears as though the "Winter Storm" that was supposed to dump 3 to 5 inches of white stuff, more in the higher elevations has passed this area leaving but a half inch of snow behind. The winds were no higher than normal at 10 to 15mph. Sometimes it's just plain irritating when the weather services can't get it right even 6 hours out let alone a week to 10 days out.
Yeah same here They were calling for 1-3" here but we got about 1/4" But that didn't keep PennDot from spraying on that pretreatment that melts snow...AND cars
And motorcycles! My little Harley has metal fenders! Yep, I ride even when there is snow on the ground. Even been caught in the middle of a blizzard about 6 years back.
LOL At the time I didn't really have a choice. I was on my way to a doctors appointment, and it was only a few flurries. No biggie. An hour and a half later when I went back out to get on my bike, several inches of the white stuff had fallen and it was coming down hard. Accompanied by wind it was just nasty. In order to get back home I had to take to the highway. Fun time! All vehicles on the road were still traveling well past the posted speed limit even though they could barely see the tail lights of the vehicle in front of them. So it was either keep up or become road pizza. I managed. But my exit was on the left side of the highway, so I made sure to switch into the fast lane! That could have been a very bad day. But I made it home safe. The weather always seems to go bad when I have some kind of doctors appointment. I've ridden in hail, serious rain downpours, and fog so thick you could cut it with a knife. It was clear when I left home. With the hail storm, quarter sized hail, when I arrived at the doctors office, they thought I made a wrong turn for the ER, I looked so bad. That's another reason why I quit going to see any doctors. It was just plain hazardous to my health! Those trips were about 65 miles each way. If none of that was bad enough, then there are those stupid people with cell phones in the city. I had been hit twice, once rear ended at a stoplight and the other a left hand turn in front of me effectively sending me to the ER instead of to my doctors appointment. I still ride, but avoid that city like the plague! And no more doctors for me! I know, TMI, but your young, you'll get over it. I did!
