I split a pile of cherry, red oak and maple last weekend. I bucked two more maples and another red oak this week. I seriously need to stack what I have split before I split anymore. I really enjoy felling, bucking and splitting. Stacking, not so much! 004.JPG 005.JPG

Yeah...stacking is a necessary evil. It seems to go pretty quick once you get started :)

Nice! I find that if I stack right off the splitter I don't dread the stacking as much. I move the splitter on down the stack as I go. Now I have also learned that stacking rounds is less daunting the a big ole mixed up pile of 'em! Many ways to do it though! What ever works.

On the stacking, I think one of the keys to liking stacking better is to do the best job you can and try to make it look as neat as possible. Even go so far as to stack the wood into some shapes will help you enjoy it more as will getting someone to work with you on the stacking. But evaluate just what is it that you don't like about the stacking. Is it the bending? The repetitive nature of the beast? The time?

I like stacking a lot more since I started using a pickaroon. At 6'6" tall the wood is a long way, when you have to bend down to pick it up
