Best place to put thermometer on the Soapstone stove??

    With my new soapstone stove....where is the best place to put a stove thermometer???

    I got one of those laser thermometers hit all around my stove put the stove top thermo in the hottest spot. The stove top is usually within 50 degrees of the laser.

    Usually right above the cat is the hottest place. Verify with an infrared if you have one.

    I agree on finding the hot spot. You can also find the hot spot simply by moving the thermometer around, starting with center or a bit more to the rear on that stove.
