Trying to put come up with some ideas to finish the main room of our basement. Lots of wiring and plumbing that needs to stay accessible. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this system? White Complete Ceiling Kit I'm thinking about ordering a sample kit to see how it looks.
Looks like a doable idea schlot..... Probably easier than drop ceiling install, and saves head height.
Keep us informed - I'm hoping eventually to put in an access-friendly ceiling in my basement and am always looking for ideas for saving head space since I only have just a little over 7' to work with.
The only thing I am seeing is it is directly connected to the floor joists, if there is any variation in the heights it may show in the ceiling. Might want to pull a string and check crowning, may have to do a little shimming here and there.
I used this in a basement office here. It's pricey but came out nice. I like that it uses conventional ceiling riles for the panels. And yes, joist variation is a problem with these types of systems.
Like Eric VW said, you and ironpony make good points about the existing joists. Did you go with troffers ? I would like to brace the back side of the tiles and put in normal surface mount lights. Headroom is at a bit of a premium but I'm looking into using as low profile lights as possible. I still may have to go with troffers though.
I installed 5" recessed cans last fall with LED lighting. Won't break lights by not thinking what is hanging down from the ceiling and nice and bright. I did this first in the garage, and liked it so much I replaced the existing (old) lighting with the cans.
sorry for the delay guys... here the pics. I zoomed so you could see the unavoidable gap where the tracks meet with the ceiling max system.
Thanks a lot. Couple questions, do you remember your floor joist spacing? Are those 2'x4' standard ceiling tiles? Do my pants make my butt look big?
