Well, I've finally started up our spring pledge drive... I mean wood processing season. I got the worst of the maple we dropped last fall into a pile of splits. When the old lady stacks while I work on some more of the same tree tomorrow, I will have her make a separate pile of anything she thinks to be too small and I will split it down further for BBQ.
Nice start Grizz. No fair....you don't have any snow left. Ours is going away quite quickly the last several days.......
No wonder we got so much snow, its the ticker. Grizz, maybe your on to something here. Maybe the next one could be thousand dollar bills? Ya never know!
Going to update the ticker when we get this maple stacked. No worries! It's going to go backwards a bit, we did burn a little.
43 with mid 20's windchill last Friday, gradual warm up since then mid 50's for the weekend,62 today & 75 expected for Wednesday.Only burned 2 days last week. Not supposed to get back down to upper 40's until next Monday.Wont be long now until the season is finally over here.
Back at it today. Here is some more of that maple with a sprinkling of found ash mixed it. Split what was left of last years supply down further, now that we know better. And last years shorties got split real small for the BBQ. Here is an overview of the work area from behind the stacks. The far pile on the left is today's maple pile, then the far pile on the right is yesterday's splits. Slightly in front of that, near the splitter, is tomorrow's work. The old lady has been hard at work too. that car in the front is what she is using to move wood around and get it all where it needs to go.
Grizz, are you going to make it to the Midwest Saw Fest April 26th at Chelsea, IA? May 17th there is a Charity Cut on the West side of Des Moines at Waukee, IA.
Haven't heard of either-- I might be able to make the sawfest, especially if Sinngetreu is interested in car pooling.
Looks like that sawfest is hosted by arboristsite, I went ahead and signed up over there to make sure I am welcome
I don't think the chainsaws GTGs are site specific. There are many of us who are on several forums. Hope to see you there.
Well the only unprocessed wood in the yard is some short splits that I plan to split smaller for the grill. That's where the majority of our shorties are going this year. There was more there than I had thought, but the job is done. Didn't get a pic before night fell, though. She got the 2/3 cord of elm and cherry moved to its new home and tomorrow she starts on the maple while I make a few preemptive strikes at the truck before the in depth work I will be doing Friday to try to bring it back to life. After that I guess I will help stack and get the grill ready for steaks!
Yep, same type as I uses last year-- just this year I own my own. It's a work hour, it typically runs out of gas when I do, it's a pretty good partnership.
