After a month of working bees in FL, my old boss called me up and offered me a full time position working the auto parts store counter. They lost some people and it's difficult to train new people, especially since there is a lot to learn and you need a strong automotive background. Since I was missing my dad, dogs, and the wood stove, I took the job. My sister and BIL rent cars and hotels for work frequently, they had free days for both. Drove back in two days and stayed one night in a Holiday Inn, total cost from central FL to northern MI was <$100 for fuel and food! Heck of a long drive, but the rental had leather heated seats... I'm missing out driving my old Durango, LOL Anyway, I'm sitting next to our wood stove and enjoying petting my dogs again! the Lord provided for me, when I prayed that I didn't want to be in FL, He opened a door back home. Old boss said it was perfect timing! Another "coincidence". Just wanted to share. Have a warm night gents!
Glad your back home! Nothing like leaving the land of warm weather to snow and cold and looking forward to it. Usually folks go downwards in the winter time.
Lots of companies here relocated down south for cheaper labor/taxes when the great recession hit. Some of my friends relocated and are all back now despite the seasonal differences. One friend told me that summer down there was like winter up here. Had to stay in the AC to be tolerable. I'll take the cold over the heat any day too. Good luck .

Yeah I worked with him last year, looks like I'll be doing so again and heading up to the interlochen store too
Joe, that is good news. Congratulations. It is almost always good coming back home. Hope you don't get buried in snow. So far, so good.
Dogs have been by my side since I came home. I move, they jump up and stand in front of me, as if to say don't go anywhere!
I was in Florida in September, it was still uncomfortable. I spent 4 months in Ft. Sam in San Antonio and a year at Ft. Hood back in the early 80s' no thanks, A buddy called Florida Satan's urinal ! I couldn't agree more, welcome back.
Thank you, they mean the world to me. When I walked in the door, they lost it! Went from a someone's here bark to just outright screaming!!! Jumping up and grabbing me with their legs/paws. They typically don't jump up on people, but I was as excited as they were to see them, and let it slide. Made me think of the videos of our troops coming home and seeing their dogs for the first time in 6mos-year. Dogs remember their owners and get emotional over being separated and rejoined. I couldn't imagine being gone from my dogs for that long. I always feel sorry for service members being separated from their family's/pets for so long. They do us all a great service protecting us/our way of life and will always have my utmost respect.
