The FDA said in a bulletin that Maple Island, which sells the rice cereal at Walmart and online under the Parent's Choice brand, agreed to a voluntarily recall after routine testing of three lots was found to contain above the recommended guidance. How can something like this happen in the USA? I can see third world countries with high levels of water and soil pollution causing this to happen but not in the USA with all of our inspections and quality controls especially on food items. And unbelievable in baby foods! Life in 2021! Baby rice cereal brand sold at Walmart is being recalled due to high levels of arsenic (msn.com)
Try to buy local, try to buy domestically. Wal-Mart may be bargained priced, but most of their "crap" comes from you know where. Amazing what folks are willing to sacrifice for convince, price and novelty.
Your right and I have been thinking about this every time get food pick up there take it home and eat the crap. .. The price is why right now.
Since the wife and I started Keto in the beginning of March, our type of food intake has taken a dramatic change. We find ourselves eating a much more sensible diet minus the carbs and sugar and crappy prepackaged processed foods.. That has forced our food buying strategy and we now find it is actually cheaper week to week at the grocery counter.
A friend of mine went on a Keto diet and lost weight and also said he felt better. Dont no if he fell of the wagon with it.
My wife and I started the keto at the beginning of August. We find it more expensive than the crap we ate before. But we also have 2 teenage daughters who eat the food I want. I've dropped 26 pounds. I'm always hungry.
This recall is a result of a routine sampling program by the FDA which found that a sample from three production lots of Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal tested above the guidance for naturally occurring inorganic arsenic. Maple Island Inc. Issues a Voluntary Recall of Three Lots of Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal
I am down 81 lbs and the wife down 43 since March 1st. I feel about 75% better and my pre diabetes is gone and my BP meds have been reduced by my doctor. I'll just leave it at that.
Hope to go down another 35..............That will put me at 225, my playing weight in high school football days.
PA Mountain man highlighted it.... Arsenic is naturally occurring in rice. This is why my wife makes me triple rinse ours before cooking....
Maple Island is a packaging specialty company that packages for other companies. (Their "specialty" is packaging dry powder(s) ) A "bad" batch of rice could come from anywhere. Hopefully it is limited to the three batches they've recalled. And yeah, rice is notoriously laden with organic and inorganic arsenic, usually in relatively low enough levels not to be of concern.
We can all look forward to all kinds of bad stuff being in our cereals when one of the big ones starts moving to Mexico.
