My sister picked this up 20 years or so ago. It now resides in our camp. I'm thinking that it is a Baby Bear knock off. It It has no name plate or other tags on it, it doesn't say Fisher anywhere on it.

Yikes, I need to move the kindling/tinder supply a little further away. Didn't realize how it had collected so close.

    Paul,

From what I learned about Fishers over the years, heres what I think you have.
When Fisher fabricators went out of business due to EPA regs, the doors had to get broken/smashed because of the Fisher logo and scrapped. But the stoves were left sitting and "most" were scrapped but not all. Some were taken home and finished in the "back yard" others pulled from the scrap pile etc. The top plate bend "looks" correct, but with out seeing it close, it's hard to tell,
The front door is home made but the hinge place looks correct.

Also, the lower part of the legs do not have a cut taper to them along with the ash pan on the front is a bit different.
It could very well have been a Fisher when it started life.
If on the bottom is a welded set of initials or date, this would be a give away that it was a production stove.
At any rate, if she is burning good.......

There is only two people I know of that can "definetly" answer that, and thats where I got my answer from.

    Dave.

You could easily be right. It is possible that this was finished off post-factory. It is well put together and looks pretty close, just the door and ash tray are off. My sister's acquisition of it 20+ years ago brings it back close to the dawn of EPA regs.

And she burns fine. Plenty of life left in it. It is used a handful of weekends a year.

This one that I pulled off google does seem to have the same legs.

Yup, That depended on the manufacturer. They were "supposed" to all look alike but some manufacturers cut corners to save money. That one in the picture you have has repair work to the back legs, I have 2 baby bears and each has slight differences.

Theres a picture of a Mama bear someone cut the legs down to fit it in a fireplace opening, I had to rebuild the legs and I put a newer style design on her. The other picture is a baby I got that was a bit rough, she is now restored.
I'm not 100% sure, but I'm willing to bet your ?babybear?;) was a stowaway at one time then finished.
