Im in the market for a new helmet and I’ve always been interested in an auto darkening one. Do they make one that you can change the shade on say for torch work vs mig, trig or stick?
    Anyone have any suggestions??

I like the Harbor Freight ones... Especially with 20 or 25% coupon...

alot of the speedglas hoods have alot of different settings but they can be pricey
i have a cheapy save phace hood with a miller insert that i use but when im welding on a job its dirty and tight areas and ive had one hood fall 40 feet so i wont buy a expensive hood to weld with

The one I use on the regular has two seperater settings-- grind/weld and 8/9 (I think those are the numbers). So bascially it can be set for grind light, grind dark, weld light and weld dark.

I have used the Harbor Freight ones and they are OK for hobby welders. I have a Speedglas and a Miller right now. Both are adjustable for shade number and sensitivity. As I recall the Miller was reasonably priced. The Speedglas was more expensive. The inserts for a standard helmet work well also but some have a nonreplaceble battery that seems to last forever but when it dies you have to replace the complete unit.

Had a Hobart helmet, paid close to $200, for many years and it finally quit working in the middle of a job. Picked one up at TSC for around $40 and it's actually just as good as the expensive one was.
