How many people use their ATV for pulling firewood for themselves?A tractor wasn't in my cards so I decided to build something after having dragged out a few cords with just a chain and the butt of the log in the ground here's what I came up with

    JD, welcome to the club.

IMHO, the only problem I see is that the weight of the logs is attached high up and close to the rear axle. IOW, if you accelerate too quickly or hit the wrong bump at the right time, the ATV will be doing a wheelie in short order.

Walt's little setup there maintains leverage over the weight.

Thanks for the welcome! agreed with your opinion Warped5 i have a set of very stiff coil springs im going install that makes it close to rigid so the suspension does not squat as much,in addition i will be building a blade on the front for piling and pushing logs will also act as a little bit of counter weight.i was going to build a tow behind but wanted try something a little more compact.

That looks like a neat set up for an atv. I have just been hauling a small trailer behind mine, cut up the tree where I drop it and load the trailer. Post more photos of it when you get the chance.

Pretty nifty idea. Let us know how it works out after you get a few turns on it.

How much does that ATV weigh?

Just call my ex wife and have her sit on the front rack. That front end will never come off the ground. She has had 2 - 350 cc counter weights installed so she's good to go.

If hauling logs out of the woods I prefer to keep the logs off the ground. It is very simple and extremely low cost to build a dray.
