Folks, I'm in NW NJ. There has been some serious work by utility companies following the 01/2026 blizzard. My route to work is rural backroads through Chester and Mendham NJ. Holy cr@p, there are huge stacks of ash everywhere. Never seen anything like it. I have too little time and energy to try and pick up the rounds but for anyone interested, here is one goldmine....

Wish I was close. I'd hoard the heck out of it.

No way to even get a load for yourself? I've been in similar situations myself and can relate.

I have access to more ash than I know what to do with. Problem is it is all dead.
I am actually looking for fresh cut wood ( prefer oak)now that will get used in a couple-maybe 3 years. I am afraid that dead ash might not have a two to three year shelf life.

I’m sure we could do that. There is a huge amount of stuff on the ground and a lot of dead standing that need to go. I can talk to him on Monday when I get back to work and I’m sure we can go up and cut a couple loads if you want

Sure. No need to twist my arm! :D

Easy access? How good is it? Dead ash quality can vary greatly.

Dead Ash has a remarkable shelf life. I have some I cut a few years ago that was dead for close to 20 years as Im at ground zero for EAB and its still good.

    Easy and good.
He just sent me a picture of two that were dead standing and fell with the wind the other day.
