I don't know the year of this stove, but the asbestos? cover that goes on top , Can you explain its purpose? Mine fell apart during this years pre season cleaning.
What year was that stove manufactured? I’d say it’s more likely ceramic fiber blanket. It insulates the top of the firebox to reflect heat and make burning of particulates more efficient, predominantly in the case of EPA rated tube stoves. ETA- I have some 1/2” CFBlanket if you need a new piece- PM me the measurements if you’d like.
Very often, that extra cermamic fiber blanket just disappears. The board underneath it is far more important.
Guy bought it for his sunroom for and didn't like the mess it made. Sold it with double walled chimney and all the extras for 800!
