The thought hit me this morning. A few years ago at this time there were all sorts of folks out mowing grass! We normally think of grass cutting time starting here around April 20-25 or thereabouts; many times later, but this year it very well might be into May before that starts.

    When does yours start?

    As late as possible!:D

I had a look back to last year, and it was just starting to green up about April 18th, May 5th still wouldn't be mowing, and mid May looking green and plush.

Ours hasn't even started to green up yet. I've never kept track of when I start ,,,,,, prolly cuz I hate it more than plowing snow .
If I had to guess ,,,, prolly mid May . That giant ice cube to the west keeps us cool long into spring.

Ours turned green in 2 days last week when it hit 88 and 85°. Trees all started to come out too over the weekend.
    Now it's cold again:hair:

Next week is forecast for a good warm up, but no 80's for quite some time... We usually see one or 2 days in May when it might hit 80. I remember working in an office where every year we got the day off if it hit 80 in May.

I'm a week away from mowing the front.
Back has been ground down from the puppy all winter.
...but, ditch water starts running this weekend......
so will be pouring it on.
    Love the ditch!

Usually by the time the daffodils have bloomed here I've had to at least cut the weeds and wild grass in some places in the lawn.
We are greening up here though late as it might or might not be. Seems to me we are about a week or two behind the normal average.

Pretty sure I usually would have at least a couple mows if not more in and 1st app. of fertilizer down by now. We still have several inches if snow on the ground a more coming tonight/tomorrow.

I'm going to try to cut the tall grass today where we have a camping area. It looks like there most of the snow and ice has melted. Could be interesting and for sure if anyone spots me doing it. Might make them wonder about my sanity. Of course though, if they know me already, they already are certain about my sanity.
