Apple?

    grabbed this small load was told it was apple. I havent used apple before so I’m not sure. Is it?

    Wow, Not seen a tree with so much lichen on it before. It is really hard to tell without a good look at the bark.

    I'm thinking you have black cherry there.

    Could be.....my Apple tree gets that all over the bark. I've never cut and split any though to know what the grain looks like.

    I've been told that for lichen to grow on the tree like that, there's gotta be a lot of clean air! Usually see it along the south shore of Lake Superior.

    They also need light and if the host tree is dying or not thriving and providing lots of shade with a healthy canopy, that will provide them with even more of an environment to thrive in.

    From what I see of yours, the bark doesn't look like what I get but it's hard to tell. The split looks the part. Did it have a sweet smell?

    Sure does look like Apple to me. I had some good amounts waiting to be cut. I like it too much as a bbq wood to burn it in my stove but might be convinced to put a little in because it’s such a nice wood to have.
