Since health has forced me to cut back on using my chainsaws some, I have started using Red Armor 50.1 premix fuel.
Anyone else have tried the canned premix fuels, and if so what do you think about them?

Good stuff but they are way too expensive. I mix my own with ethanol free 90 at $3.80 gallon.

I’ve bought a couple cans of VP 50:1 and TrueFuel and was happy with both. Stuff seems to have a longer shelf life than regular gasoline. Of course it’s not cheap, but neither is running 100+ octane, which I know some people swear by.

Never have used them as too expensive IMO. I run 91 octane with Stihl 40:1 silver bottle.

They are great but at $20/gallon it’s way more economical to find ethanol free and mix your own.

If you only use a gallon or 2 a year it’s probably easier to use the premix

The Trufuel is $3 dollars cheaper for 32 Oz then RedArmor 32 Oz but I had been using RedArmor oil and real gas so just thought I would stay with RedArmor.
I might go with Truefuel if it starts cutting into my funds, am sure Truefuel would be just as good.

I bought three Trufuel 50:1 on sale at Menards awhile back for hauling around in the wheeler box when cutting on the trails far from the cabin. They are really handy, but too expensive for everyday use. When the last one is empty I will save the container for my standard mix of non-oxy premium and Stihl silver mix.

I've used a couple of 50:1 premix fuels, Stihl and Trufuel, when I could not get E-free. They're fine but will drain your bank account faster than you can drain a fuel tank.

I exclusively run engineered fuel. Not only is ethanol free fuel unheard of in my area, the operational readiness of products such as TruFuel (my go to) is invaluable.

I typically mix my own, but I do keep a sealed can of the Stihl motomix in a cabinet just in case there's ever a fuel shortage or something. It stores well too.

I'm fortunate to have 90 octane rec fuel available to me about 1/2 mile down the road. I burn a fair amount of mix, so the canned stuff is a bit pricey. I can easily burn 5gal of mix in a day or two when we're on logging or tree jobs. I think the canned fuels are an excellent product for folks that don't use their small equipment on a regular basis.

Oooo shots fired! :bug:I use at least one, if not five of my small equipment products on a regular (daily) basis. Canned fuels are the gold standard for small engines, change my mind.

They are if you can't get e free gas for sure! I mix 32:1 with Dolmar synthetic oil, Sea Foam & rec fuel. I've left some saws sit for months & my leaf blower for over a year with this combo & they fire & run every time. I just can't imagine the price per gallon buying fuel by the quart. I used to buy 100 octane low lead aviation gas at the local airport to make mix with. If you burn enough fuel can you get VP racing gas in a 5gal can, that's a real good quality fuel as well. Not sure what the restrictions are in your area. All that being said, I'll never badmouth canned pre-mix, it's excellent stuff. Just pricey.

I bought some of the Husqvarna stuff to get the extended warranty when I bought my only “new” saw, also bought a gallon true fuel once on sale. I love the smell of it, av gas too. But I have 91 e-free available so that is what I use mostly

We run the VP fuel products in all of our power equipment at work. It's really good stuff.

E free and red armor, have lift in echo tiller.for.2 years and still fires right up..... if you only use a quart a year seems likena good idea. For 1/2 gallon plus per year id make other plans.

I have used them in the past when I could not get any non ethanol fuel. I always used the 40 to 1.
I still use the cans because I found them to be handy.

I run engineered fuel exclusivley in the saws. I prefer it for the long shelf life since sometimes Ill go 6+ months without touching the saws in late spring through summer.

Thats me. 100LL Avgas is $5.30/gallon.
    Just got it last week.
I run it in all the saws (but one), weed eater and backpack blower.
I like it because some of them sit for months (or more) and still start right up.

(I use E-free premium in the other saw.)

I use 93efree in my saws
The 084 may go months between uses, but it always starts and runs like a top. I try to rotate through the rest of the bunch, so they get used at least once a month.
