I'd bet it's Chinese mfg. I can get a 20" loop Oregon for $24 or Stihl for 30'ish. They want around 12 for the knock off. I'm not willing to have two questionable chains when I know I can have one good one for the same $$$.

And the last Oregon chain I bought was $9.99 per loop shipped to my house free. This year I think they were $11.99. We post every year here when there on sale usually. The Web site is Loggerchain.com. buy you 5 or 10 loops when it's on sale and be good for awhile. I think I only paid like $11.99 or so for the 25" loops.

Someone will always post a link here when the sale is going on. I can't remember what time of year it is, but it's not right now I know that.

So my advice is buy a decent chain or 2 to get you by till Frawley's Saw Shop (loggerchain.com) has their next chain sale. They do it every year.

Seems like it was just this last spring I saw the thread here. But with the way time flies for me now it wouldn't suprised me if it was fall or winter?

Good info. What is the thinking on low/anti-kickback chains compared to a regular chain?

I don't like those because it's just one more thing to have to file down.

Semi chisel is not as grabby and full chisel, and semi lasts longer. But personally I don't try to buy anti kickback. As long as you keep the tip away from wood kickback is non existent.

Madsens in centralia washington has a 2 loops for the price of 1 deal that runs year around. Its not as good of a price as frawleys, but still not bad.

Baileys will do buy one get one as well. They used to have redicuously high shipping though. I do know they have a free ship , but I think the threshold is like $99.

West Coast Supply ( I think that's the name) has good prices. There ex Baileys employees that splot off a few years ago to start their own business. Good guys and customer service.

Bailey's has had $9 shipping for your whole order for quite some time now, so if you wait till you need a few things you make out pretty well

Smaller saws use 3/8 Low Pro chains and that's all you can get for them

If you have a saw running 3/8 lo pro chain I would not try to swas it to normal 3/8 cause it will only cUT worse.
