Ningbo Hanks, which is the developmental offshoot of Ningbo Grace (2nd largest stove manufacturer in China) has a bit of a go.

THey have been trying to copy the Wiseway for a long time and earlier examples have been pretty crap. Now that USSC owns Wiseway and most of their stoves are from Grace, Hanks has a much nicer looking unit. My tip is that they have got their hands on one from USSC. Here is a link.

    I do really like the look of the pellet range cooker they are playing with. Might get one myself one day when I move back into my old house. Here tis;

Love a stove with electrical wires and test meters hanging off it in the promo photo :D

We were toying with getting a Wiseway, but if they are coming out of China now, ahhhhh, not so much.

I don't blame Gary for selling, as he likely made far more $$$$ than selling stoves.

And about the only way that can happen is with somebody like USSC making them in china.

Sad to see more jobs going over seas though.

Wiseway was not a large company, but there were jobs lost, and the folks who sold them steel and other materials lost out too.

This entire idea with companies making everything in China is eventually going to cave in on itself.

Thats what the rest of the world said about those upstarts in the USA, we had all the resources and the labor force. Now the shoe is on the other foot.

Seeing China prosper is fine, but not at the expense of taking jobs from workers here that had good jobs until the company decides to send the work over seas.

If the products were GREAT, then it might be a bit better, but most of the stuff sucks.

Old brands that you come to know and respect are now a bit cheezy and not the same top quality as when they were made here.

If China wants to build there own products and compete in the market, fine, but most stuff is American companies sourcing their labor and materials over there to make a killing.

Eventually this plan will fall apart, and for some companies, they have figured out that its better to make their products here.

    Ahhh well

    Not familiar with those.

One that comes to mind is the Stanley thermos bottles.
The big green ugly ones that everybody carried to work.

Made in China now, and no where near the same Quality as what was made here.

I make an effort to buy stuff made in the USA when possible. It isn't easy, and it costs more, but it's worth it to me.

My car was built in Ohio, truck in Indiana, wife's car in Kentucky. My pellet furnace and pellet grill were made about 30 miles from where I live. I took some flack at the 'other site' about the grill being over priced, should have bought this or that for less money, blah blah. I bought that with the intent of it lasting me until I can't cook anymore. I'd spent enough on throwaway grills over the years, most every one made in China. Buying something built like a tank by a local company who uses mostly local suppliers was worth the extra money. The factory tour was cool too. :)

All that said, there is lots of stuff around my house that is made in China. It's almost impossible to avoid.

    Enough on that subject.

Kinda sad about the Wiseway. It was (still is) a good concept. I hope USSC doesn't cheapen it up too much, or cause it to start torching houses, AKA the window mount stove.

The computers we all use to come to this wonderful place is likely ALL made in China, from the computer case, motherboard, peripherals, screen, keyboard, mouse, yada, yada , yada.

    Just sayin :D

    I hear ya.

We have always bought American made BIG VEHICLES like Suburbans and dually crew cab pickups etc.

When we retired I wanted to stop spending a huge $$$$$$ per month on fuel, and get a new rig.

    Really bolted the camp.

Went and bought a new Smart For Two

    Great little rig.

    Absolutely love it.

Tiny, oh yeah, but way more interior room then one might think and very well appointed.

All the power options (Windows, locks, cruise, etc)

Made by Mercedes in France, has a mitsubishi 3 cyl engine with an automated 5 speed gearbox.

Having been a heavy haul trucker for over 20 years I was a little dubious at first, but after driving one then having one to test for a few days, I was sold.

The Big M on the manufactures build sheet did not hurt any though.

When it comes to all the China stuff, ahhhhh, not so much.

    I hear ya

I talked to a guy who had one of these (sells them also) this past summer and he likes them. Seemed a bit pricey for me. For that price, might as well buy a wood stove instead of a stove whee you are dependent on a manufactured fuel source.

    Good point

If we did not have the shell source I would consider a small pellet mill and do that.

We went away from the wood stove because of the hassle of getting the wood.

The pellet stove is sooooo much easier.

We had considered a Wiseway as a backup FOR power outages, but a good little wood stove would do the same thing.
