    Hello
Looks like some work but does it save any money by purchasing a large piece?
Video shows cutting up this 22 lb piece!

Pic 2 looks like approx 10 lb piece
Cooks up nice and tender. :)

No way. for one thing it's Canadian beef, fed differently than ours and not USDA inspected. Secondly, that price is outrageous for a whole piece of untrimmed meat. Thirdly, you are going to loose a few pounds when you do trim it up. Sorry Don, but I cut meat over forty years, and I wouldn't buy that.

I’ve done it before, not to save money, but to make my own thickness of cuts.

I've never had a Costco, wish I did. If we had the opportunity I have no doubt WWW would come home with something like that.

I’ve done it often with the Costco boneless rib roast. I’ve also cut my own NY strip steaks from a loin roast. Additionally I break down primal chuck rolls. This is the only way in my area to get Denver steaks, Delmonico/chuckeye steaks and sierra strip steaks. It also saves on ground chuck.

Costco meat is some of the best around my area. I feel it’s an excellent value. It’s fun and absolutely worth it! It would seem like an experienced butcher would know that any waste from such activities goes directly into a bucket to be saved for ground beef.

Husband's great grandparents born late 1800's in Italy used tossed them into the "sausage bucket". Apperantly blood sausage was really tasty

I've gotten an entire beef tenderloin. Trimmed it and cut into steaks. Worked fine each time.

That was from BJ's, not Costco

Costco, in terms of grocery store quality, is pretty darn good for beef. These are a couple ribeyes I had from there. I haven't seen any others compare in terms of price to quality ratio.

Ok let’s be very clear I re read pictures because people I know on here to be knowledgeable have different opinions.

This beef is probably Canadian; it is priced in Canadian dollars and that label on the meat is from the province of Quebec. So exchange rates MATTER

edit $416 x .72 =$299.52 usd 22 pounds or about $14 dollars for pound of steak

That’s about what it runs here in Michigan at my local Costco. Slightly more at the bjs by me. So yeah you’re completely correct about the exchange rate. And it is a terrific value as seen in the pics woody5506 posted.
