Anybody here NFI certified in wood pellet appliances?

I'm going for my NFI certification here in the next month or two. I've been installing pellet stoves for quite some time, and servicing them for around a year now.

I have completed the wood certification a few times now and I will admit, the test wasn't EASY by any means even with lot's of experience in the field.

Is there any particular part of the test book I should focus on extra hard? What parts of the test gave you the most difficulties? It's closed book basic calculator only.....

I hate tests

Thanks for the encouragement guys! I'll nail it but damm the book is boooooorrrring lol. After I complete it I'll post up and let everyone know what they go over etc. so in the future somebody has something to go off if they take this test

I am pellet certified by the NFI....have been for years......its easy. Probably take it without studying.....its really not hard- I take it every two years or so....I don't bother with the CEU's, I just take the test when mine expires.....means you have to sit thru the class every two years or so, but its all good....still get some good info there....

 

NFI is what? Where I used to work we called the two bosses NFI and NFC. No Fugging Idea and No Fugging Clue.

The wood cert wasn't too bad, were just a few little things that I had to really think about like the R value stuff for floor/wall protection etc. My company is just getting back into doing installs after a long time of sub-contracting it out. It's been a while since I have been a full time installer so some of that stuff is a little foggy.

The book says 75% of the test is on installations so I just need to re-memorize all the clearances etc.

Pellets are easier, since all installs have to follow the Owners' manual, and they all differ...........its mostly theory.......combustion triangle, etc

Being taken seriously when you are a professional in the business, it will also lower my companies insurance costs when it comes to liability etc. for installing stoves.

 

A lot lol. They make pellet powered fireplace inserts, and pellet fireplaces. Not to mention they use the word "fireplace" as a general term when it comes to heating a house with fire, whether it be gas, wood or pellet.

Their certs are right up there with the CSIA, Chimney Sweep Institute of America.

Basically, it means when you hire one of us to install a fireplace in your home, we won't burn your house down like the struggling contractor/handyman down the street that will take any work he can get After completion, you will be able to go to google and search for "certified fireplace installer" and a website will ask you what your zip code is. If you lived in my area you would see my name pop up with a link to the company I work for.

Hmm, don't remember being told, but I might have forgotten if its been a while.
I would have never guessed that to be Angelina Jolie, but the serial killer look about sums it up.
