Im intrigued looks like something that could come in real handy. Im guessing that you have one Pete? If so I look forward to a review of how well it works.
I have one , I bought the Quad from Baileys when they were having a sale I think I paid $100 . It is very well made and light . I have only used it to manipulate larger logs to cut up . I do like the idea of using it to cut up smaller diameter logs and branches but I have yet to try is like that . It does come with a set of chains for securing it to a tree but the hitch mount is extra .
Never used a woodchuck tool but did catch one the other day in a trap. As for the tool pictured, I think I'd much rather stick with a simple cant hook. As for the log lift, it can take a lot of muscle to get that log in the air and then it is good for only a very few cuts and you have to do it all over again. Really slows down the progress but increases the labor.
I feel much the same as you Dennis on the lift part I find it useless and don't even have the stand hooked up heck I don't even know or car where its at The part I am interested in is the hitch / tree attachments I tend to carry logs out and cut them up by the truck. Lately I carry a small log stand and cut them up quick next to the truck however the hitch mount would be great given the 10000lb + hitch on the beast. It would make it easier and a lot more convenient weather I cut them up in the field or at home.
Use my cant hook & peavey quite a lot.The timberjack sits in parents garage, its almost 33 years old now & hasn't been used 20 years easily.
