They look like they are inexpensive but are they junk or just OK or what ?

I would rather employ a Canadian worker than a Chinese worker, so I opt for a Canadian made Oregon. As far as quality is concerned, I have heard more bad from the Forester than I have seen. I have had a few come in used, and haven't seen any laminates coming apart besides one I have here (at the tip), which could have been abuse from its previous owner. What size and mount are you looking for?

What pitch, gauge, and length? I will do some looking around for ya. Are you wanting to buy a bar/ chain combo, or just the bar?

I have one that isn't far from new (Husqvarna branded), 3/8 72dl .050 for 3/8 standard if you are interested. I don't know what a fair price is, considering shipping and all of that.

If you want me to send you a picture, just let me know. I wont be able to save you a ton on it- but maybe enough to make it worth it for you.

I have had a few Foresters.

Never had one come apart (yet). But I have heard of them. But that's it. Just heard about it.

Lots of companies make a laminate bar, some are better than others. I don't think that Forester is the worst of them though.

For the average firewood cutter? It would be o.k. for a Rancher 55 and a few cord a year.

Had one on my old 455 and still have an 18" on my 036

DexterDay has a couple Forester bars IIRC. I'm curious what he thinks of them.

You think the 55 will run a 20" bar ok , my reason is I have chains that will fit 3/8 .050 72

Just make sure it's a .050 bar if you go that route. .058 was popular with Husqvarna too.

Yeah that's the bar (.050) I'm lookin to buy cuz I already have 3/8 .050 72 chains So I could use em on 2 diff saws
But IDK if it would be better to run 18" bar on the 55 and go ahead and buy chains for that ?

Most, if not all of them are now. Some of the older "Pro" series were Canadian IIRC.

$30 shipped is the best I could do on it. I will snag a picture of it when I get back home. Doesn't make a difference to me either way, do what is good for you. Guessing it has an hour or so on it, still has the blue lettering which typically wears off just looking at it wrong.

If you have chains for 20", I'd stick with that length. The 55 will run it just fine. The size/species of the wood will make far more of a difference in the load on the saw than 2" of bar length.
