Anybody else getting anxious for this wind to retreat to get out there and take a ride to see what can be scrounged. I'm going nuts over here.
Man its been bad here for a while now. These gusts gotta be 50-55. The house is making noises. I hate this.
It’s been relentless here. Highest gust I’ve seen is 45. I’m glad it’s not any colder cause the trees are very flexible!! Unreal how much the wind is laying them over. Both of my neighbors are loosing shingles. I’m shocked we still have power with all the dead ash. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Seems to be pretty minimal damage right around me. Only one call on a downed tree so far, & that one hit out in the open. Some power outages, but not anything major I've heard of. BeechNut , don't go looking till the winds die down, now ain't the time to be wandering around under trees!
I've seen a couple of big trees down, had to clear parts of 2 dead ash off our driveway, and seen 3 roads closed.....and I won't be able to do anything until next weekend
Wind has been blowing around 25mph with gusts up to 40. A lot of drifting happening. Went into town for supper and some parts of the road had snow drifts half way across them. It was raining last night before it cooled off and started to snow. Roads are ice covered. So much for that PA groundhog calling for an early spring
I’m feeling the excitement too. Will probably get up a hour earlier than normal and drive around a bit. If there’s any good scores close by that I can get I’ll possibly call in to work. Work or???
Its ripped and roared around here all day, supposed to subside @ midnight...my excitement comes from the, albeit momentary, assist in drying out the ground. This is prime time to be cutting, hard to do when you’ve lived in a mud hole for most of the dang year. My best friend is a pro logger and he has many staged, unable to get out because of the mud and inability to get a picker tractor trailer into the staging area...Aint a dang thing we can do about it but the wind def helps, otherwise-I Hate It!
Just checked our electric suppliers outage map....some here n there but not as bad as expected....SO FAR!
Well I'm back from cruising my usual spots and nothing. I'm shocked. There was one decent beech down but it was in a hole in a swamp. I'm not dragging all of that up that hill. I have one other area to check but I gotta wait for the township to plow the road and get some grit on it. I have a good suspicion the steep hillsides have some uprooted stuff that came down. Keeping fingers crossed.
Not anxious about finding more wood as we have plenty. However, tomorrow I'll get out to check the covering on the wood piles. I expect some got moved and maybe a couple sheets got blowed off. Usually happens once or twice per year but is not a big problem.
