I just came across this fresh cut tree. In front of a house near me. The guy in the yard said he was looking to get rid of it. I took a couple of rounds. He said to come back if I want more. It wasn't super heavy and it didn't have much of a scent to it. Anyone recognize it? Also when I scratched one of the cut ends to give it the sniff test, it was very wet. I scratched it with my leatherman, and droplets were coming out of it. Thanks. 337E99F2-842F-47C8-99F7-1A440F87981B.jpeg F35C5B77-5D4F-423A-BC4F-9D90377F5A1E.jpeg

Looks like Littleleaf Lindenwood to me.

What did it smell like ? The Littleleaf Lindenwood I have almost smells like some type of incense. Smells funky in the pile & smells the way burning.

I see a center pith which leads me to say ash but ive never heard of one being as wet as you describe. Could also be Norway maple as the two can have very similar bark. I just cut some yesterday, split it today and it was very wet. Norway maple final answer. Pic of tree (Norway) from score earlier this week. IMG_0800.JPG

I in the Norway maple clan too. Basswood (linden) has a little bit more of an elm or or black locust depth to the bark
