Since everyone around here thinks pine will burn your house down, you can't give it away - literally. I came across a guy through a town Facebook page looking to pay to have someone haul it away for him. Pictured are 2 truck loads, some of which I had to cut down from the logs he had lying in his yard. I got paid $500 to cut and haul out 4 cords of pine that will feed my OWB. Me and my helper ($30 worth of teenage labor) got it done in just over 3 hour.
Having a truck and a trailer got you money and wood, that's a return on investment! And having the space to put it all helps too. Nicely done!
Nice job and nice you had some young, strong help, too. I think he gets a big one, don't he Eric VW???
Getting paid too! I would've taken it also. I wish someone would pay me to get my own wood. Keep them eyes peeled.
Used to be that every year we would make a trip to eastern WA to mule deer hunt. Since we had a wood stove in the wall tent and we would stay about ten days, we would cut a lot of pine for camp wood. I would try to work it so I would bring about 2/3 of a trailer load home with me. We would always have our ritual yearly "First Fires" at home with this wood. Hopefully after a dinner of venison and noodles followed by a toot of scotch! This is probably the source of my affection for pine fires. It may be of interest to some that both my house and tent have not burned down. You made a huge score both in money and wood. Good on Yah!

Any idea what variant of SYP it is? My guess would be shortleaf pine... looks like it’s range extends well into NJ unlike longleaf or loblolly. In school, we learned that SYP includes shortleaf, longleaf, loblolly and slash pine.... found this interesting... This pine is a source of wood pulp, plywoodveneer, and lumber for a variety of uses.
